EAGLE PASS, Texas — September 1, 2025. Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man after discovering drugs hidden inside a bag of potato chips.
Authorities identified the suspect as 34-year-old Jesús Alberto Martínez. The arrest originated from a traffic violation while Martínez was driving near Chulavista and Alamo streets, according to Lt. Efraín Valdez.
During the stop, deputies conducted a vehicle search and found a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, concealed inside a bag of chips. Officers also discovered another small package containing the same substance, which was confiscated as evidence.
Martínez now faces charges for possession of controlled substances and tampering with evidence for attempting to hide the narcotics inside the potato chip bag.
